Dr. Amira Mogaji, Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Battle Creek Public Schools Dr. Amira Mogaji is currently the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Battle Creek Public Schools (BCPS). She previously served as a District Transformation Coach at BCPS as well as the Chief Academic Officer for Garden City Montessori in St. Louis, MO and as a principal at Kalamazoo Public Schools. During her over 20 years in the field of education, Dr. Mogaji has served as an urban educator in Pennsylvania, Missouri, and Michigan. Throughout her career, Amira has served in the role of a teacher, a CEO, a school principal, and a chief academic officer in both traditional and Montessori school settings in urban school districts.
Dr. Amira Mogaji is the President of the American Montessori Society (AMS) Board of Directors. She serves as the, the AMS Board liaison for the AMS Peace and Social Justice Committee, on the AMS Directorship Committee, the AMS Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Committee, and as the chair of the AMS Executive committee. Along with her AMS board service, Amira is a Montessori for Social Justice Board of Directors founding board member and currently serves as an Eliminating Racism & Claiming/Celebrating Equality (ERACCE) board member. Dr. Mogaji continues to work to disrupt and dismantle systems in education that prevent all students from accessing high-quality educational programming within school systems and districts.
