MaryJo Banasik

MaryJo D. Banasik joined Thrun Law Firm in May 2022. MaryJo received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Political Science (B.A., 1993), her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (J.D., cum laude, 1997) and her doctorate from Michigan State University in the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) program (Ph.D., 2019).

Before joining the firm, MaryJo worked in the higher education sector for seventeen years at Michigan State University where she negotiated sponsored research contracts and managed sponsored research administration, and at the University of Michigan where she worked in research development and served as Director of the Faculty Senate Office.

MaryJo focuses her practice on labor and employment, higher education, business contracts, and general school law.

MaryJo is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.

This session will cover common collective bargaining issues related to school safety protocols, remote work, and employee retention. Many of these issues can and should be addressed in collective bargaining agreements and may impact mandatory bargaining subjects that need to be negotiated. An experienced Thrun attorney will cover proven strategies for identifying solutions related to these issues and reaching resolutions with employees and unions.
